Born and raised
in the US in northern Utah. Married in 1963
and have 7 children (2 sets of twins) and 13
grandchildren with 2 more who will be born while
we are in China. Michael graduated from university
in 1964 with a major in English and a minor
in Political Science and attended Law School
on scholarship at the University of Utah. Accepted
a full time position with Procter & Gamble
while still in Law School. Also worked for the
U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bank of
America before accepting a position with the
American Cancer Society in the early 70’s. Served
as the Executive Vice President of the Utah
Division of the American Cancer Society until
retirement in 1995. Served many years as a volunteer
teacher in California and Eastern Canada. Also
served as Student Body President in high school
and university while actively participating
in debate and forensic competition.
Deanna graduated from Weber State University
with Associate of Business Degree. Served as
a volunteer teacher in Hawaii and California.
Before becoming a full-time mother was an executive
secretary for a chemical corporation. For many
years worked as a volunteer for the American
Cancer Society; organized neighborhoods and
county for door to door contributions and distribution
of literature. For six years directed Cancer
Research Study II for the state of Utah; recruited
2,000 volunteers who kept track of 20,000 volunteers.
They studied lifestyles of the volunteers. Worked
nine years in a junior high school with registration,
attendance, and counseling.
